I’m a big fan of finding new ways to give old stuff a new life. Got some old doors lying around and looking for inspiration on how to recycle them? Have a browse through these old doors below for some great new ideas. I think they all look great but my fave is the office desk or maybe the hall unit or maybe the coffee table (oh I can’t decide). Happy New Year dear people, hope your having a great start to the New Year. We had an amazing 10 days over Christmas and New Year in Norway with MOH’s family and were spoilt silly. Did as little work as possible and as much eating and sleeping as I could manage. We got back last week and feel totally energised and full of enthusiasm and ready to take on 2012 – this is going to be a GREAT year

Came across a picture of this bedroom and swooned over it for a while. I love the shabby chic, romantic feeling that this room has. A quirky alternative to a headboard are the old distressed doors and the simplicity of the furniture screams of old world, soft and romantic. And who says that bed linen must be ironed – I totally dig the unironed crispness of that gorgeous white bed linen. What do you think? Is this the kind of bedroom that you could wake up in every morning?

Decorating with Candles for Christmas

Hi All, sorry I haven’t been blogging for an age. Its been a mad few weeks and I’ve been busy sourcing some gorgeous new products for next year, had a stand at the Food & Wine Show at the RDS and had a great weekend with my partner & his family in Edinburgh (what a cracking city).

I love curling up on the couch on a wet, windy evening in front of the fire with a big glass of wine and browsing through images of decorating for Christmas. One of the things that struck me flicking through images was that something as simple as decorating with candles can help create a nice, cosy atmosphere. Here a few of my faves that include some from our own collection of course :

Brrrr, I think our spell of nice weather has gone but thats not a bad thing. How could it possibly not be a bad thing you might ask? Well its a great time to fire up the stove and curl up on the couch on a cold, winters evening with a big glass of wine and a good book. I love an open fire but I’m a huge fan of the woodburning stoves – they’re great on a practical level because they generate heat and warmth but aesthetically don’t you think they can be a real focus piece in a room and great for creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. We have a high ceiling in the kitchen and it gets really difficult (and expensive on oil) to heat the room so we’re looking into getting a new stove so I’ve been having a little browse around for some inspiration. If you had the choice of an open fire or woodburning stove – what would you prefer?

I’ve been browsing through some of the images taken from our Photo Shoot for eBoutique.ie that we did and this image has a real Autumn feel to it. The stylist, Blanaid Hennessy and photographer Moselle Foley really captured the essence of that comfortable casual country living style. It was a great shot to showcase my own Irish designed range of tableware.

I’m going through a bit of a ‘I’d like a white kitchen’ phase. Really like the look and feel of this kitchen. Love the white metro tiles, the cast iron rad (definitely on my wish list) and doesn’t that gorgeous chandeliers add a touch of style?

Recycled Table – Before & After

Autumn is fast approaching and I’m happy to be starting back with the local knitting & sewing group. Hopefully this year I’ll do less talking/nattering and make more of an effort to actually make something Its that time of year that classes are starting up again – are you joining any classes or doing something interesting with your spare time or do you take some time out to find a little quiet space at home, put your feet up and do a crossword or read a book?

Floral Friday & Friends

Its been such a busy week and thankfully Friday is here – I just love my weekends. This weekend 2 of my oldest friends and their hubbies are coming for dinner and we’re really looking forward to it.
